People step on the carpet so it's only natural for it to get dirty. But aside from that, spills and other substances may also get it soiled and stained. If you need to use cleaning solutions, it's ideal to start with milder ones such as vinegar and water solution, and another using baking soda. If you have to use a detergent, make sure that you are using a mild kind and one that is pH balanced. You would only need to mix ΒΌ teaspoon of dish detergent with a cup of water. Bleach should be avoided and use ammonia only on rare occasions.
