Tips to Motivate Your Teenage Children to Do House Cleaning
Published on Tuesday, 18 May 2010

Many of the teenagers these days are very much consumed with their curricular activities at school or are busy hanging out with their friends.  This makes it impossible for them to stay at home and even do some house cleaning chores. In this instance that it is so difficult for you to ask your teenage children to help you in cleaning the house, the following motivators are being suggested:

As parents, you need to have some reinforcements in asking your teenage to clean up.  You can give them some incentives (like extended TV hours during weekdays or a shopping spree at the end of the month) if they are able to maintain a clean room in a month. Set the expectations at home.  This means that you need to inform your teenage children what you expect from them.  In this way, you can gauge whether or not your children are living up to your expectations.  Schedule a day as family cleaning day.  In this day, everyone in the family is involved in cleaning up the house.  No one is exempted from the doing the cleaning job.   This reinforces in the family the need to clean up the house in a manner that it is something that is fun and exciting.

Your teenage children can be taught and motivated on how they can help in cleaning the house.  These are just some of the ways on how you can do it.
