Do You Need Cleaning Help?
Tidying up Attic Clutters
Published on Saturday, 02 January 2010

An attic is a part of the house that is most feared by some because of the ghost stories usually associated with this area and because it's the place where it may be impossible to be organised. Yes, this is the section where you need the courage to clean and start having some order amidst the chaos!

No one would volunteer and willingly arrange those piles and piles of clothes, papers, furniture, etc. But this part of your house should also be given attention.

This may be daunting at first but you have to take one step at a time. What are the things you needed to do and consider in tidying up your attic?

Courage
Are you up for the job of cleaning, sorting and arranging those things that were accumulated through the years in the attic? We're talking about loads of different kinds of things that were in the attic.

Time
Do you have the time to clean the attic? You may be able to finish it one day if you don't have others tasks to do. And if you're not able to finish it in one day, do you still have time to spare? Don't start cleaning and arranging your attic if you will not finish it.

Help
Will there be someone who can help you in moving, lifting and carrying things from one place to another? If yes, then go on. If not, think if you can handle it all by yourself.

Sorting
Be ready by having a box, container, papers and pens to be used in labeling. Start by identifying the useless things amongst the piles and throw it into the garbage. Next, look for the things you can use and set aside.

Group the things together. It may be according to the people who used them, uses and may use it, or about its uses, it may also be due to the size of the object or by chronological based on the years it was used. You can use any kinds of organising patterns; choose whatever is easy for you to do and remember.

Clean

If you can't remove all the things in the attic, start in one corner. Start cleaning from the farthest in the room and from top to bottom.

Check also for the leaks on the ceilings, cracks on the walls and decaying parts in the room. It should be fixed first before arranging and putting back all the things in the attic.
