How many times have you been told that wood floor is not as practical as tiles? But you really want to own a house with a wood floor. You can't blame yourself because this is better-looking and more elegant. But that elegance comes with responsibility to clean your wood floor well. And you have to be warned that this cleaning needs special procedures:
1. Clear off the wood floor. This means that you have to remove everything on the floor.
2. Sweep the wood floor to remove dusts and other debris. Use a dust mop for this instead of a straw broom.
3. Prepare lots of cotton swabs. You will use these to moisten the corners of the room because a broom or a vacuum cleaner won't reach these parts. Cotton swabs are also used in removing molds and stains. These will also be needed for removing the detergent solution from the floor.
4. Mop the wood floor with a water combined with wood floor solution. You should use a scrub also especially if your floor has collected formed dirt on it.
5. Mop over the wood floor again. This time using clean water only.
6. You may use a dryer for faster drying of the wood floor but you can just wait for it to dry if you don't have this device.
7. Apply floor wax or anything as a finish touch and protection for the wood floor. Let the wax dry before wiping the floor again with a dry and clean rug. This last step will surely turn your dull floor into a shiny elegant wood floor.
It really takes some effort to maintain a wood floor. But once you see its elegance, the effort will all be worth it.
