Taking Care of Your Book Shelves the Practical Way
Published on Sunday, 18 October 2009

Your books are placed on the shelves because apparently you would like these books to be preserved and protected from being torn and damaged.  Essentially, when you place them on the bookshelf, do not think that they are already that protected. You still need to clean and dust off the bookshelves or your books may develop moldings that can damage them beyond repair. Below are some of the quick tips that you can follow to clean your bookshelves:

From time to time, remove the books from the shelves because termites usually multiply a lot faster when they remain undisturbed.  By removing all the books on the shelves on a regular basis you are limiting the chances of producing termites that eat up the pages of your books. When cleaning the bookshelves with the books inside it, make sure that you use soft cloth with not so strong chemical cleaning substance.  Make sure that you wipe it with care to avoid fragments and residues from setting in.  The soft cloth dampened with cleaning substance allows for extra moisture to develop. After cleaning and wiping the bookshelf, make sure that you have a dry towel that will supplement your wiping process. After wiping the shelves with wet cloth, make sure that you have removed all traces of moisture.

The bookshelf is not the only thing that you would like to protect against dust and dirt, because more importantly, you are protecting the things inside it from potential damages.
