Scheduling a General Cleaning Day for the Office
Published on Sunday, 22 November 2009
Are you staying 5 days a week for at least 8 hours a day in the office? If that is the scenario, then your office must be your second home. You work with others and you belong to an organisation. With this fact, you should be more than willing to participate in a cleaning activity intended to keep the office tidy and pleasurable to the eyes of your clients.
Even if you are not the boss, you are allowed to suggest a general cleaning day for the office. General cleaning is a combined effort amongst all members of the workplace. You may schedule it once every quarter, twice a year or once a year. This will all depend on how small or large the establishment is.
How do you schedule a general cleaning day?
The rule in scheduling a general cleaning day is very simple. You simply have to follow this guide.
* Call for a meeting. This is quite easy if you are the head of the organisation. If you are not, then talk to your boss about it. He will be more than glad to listen to you and appreciate your concern about keeping the office tidy.
* Listen to suggestions. Since you are not the only member of the organisation, you have to listen to what others say. Make sure you come up with a schedule that is fit for everybody. Obviously, you will choose a weekend to spend the general cleaning day for the office. Some of you might not be available for the next week or two but maybe all of you will be there the weekend after next. What matters is that nobody will be excused from the endeavour.
* Practise the general cleaning schedule. This might be synonymous to the saying "Practise makes perfect". If you intend to have the general cleaning job once or twice a year, then make it a habit. It should be something to look forward to each year.
Once you have enjoined everybody to participate in the general cleaning day it will surely be easier to schedule the next activities particularly focused on this endeavour. It may be quite hard to make the schedule the first time but as soon as everything is discussed properly, all the rest of the chores will run smoothly. With this, you are sure to have more than an organised workplace.
