Removing Nasty Blood Stains
Published on Monday, 12 October 2009
Before you start to imagine some crime scene from one of those TV shows, getting blood stains on your carpet are fairly common - like when kids, or you, even, suddenly get a nosebleed. Children can also come into the house with injuries sustained when playing or biking outside. And after you're done with the treatment and the bandages and everything, the next order of business is getting rid of those nasty blood stains that are left on your otherwise pristine carpet.
One important thing you should know at the onset is to NEVER use hot water. Hot water may be good for general carpet cleaning, but NEVER for blood. Hot water actually makes your carpet fibers absorb the blood more, and you'll never get it out. Tap or cold water will do, and you need to do is wet the affected area and let it sit for a couple of hours. You can also loosen the blood stain by scrubbing it with a wet cloth - after which you can use detergent to clean it. Rinse, wipe again, and repeat the process until the results are to your satisfaction. With older stains, you can use meat tenderizer mixed with some water to make a paste. Put it on the stain and have it sit for a couple of hours before rinsing.
