Preventing Injuries When Doing Home Cleaning
Published on Wednesday, 26 August 2009

Home cleaning is a difficult task for most people, especially if they are working professionals. If you are worried about getting injured whilst cleaning, ensure that you follow these safety instructions before cleaning.

Wet floors

One of the most common hasards of house cleaning is wet floors. If you are mopping the floor, ensure that all traces of water are thoroughly wiped away. In this manner, you can avoid slipping and falling down on the floor surface.

Chemicals

Most commercial cleaning agents these days contain chemicals, which can be dangerous if you are not careful. If you are allergic to certain ingredients or substances, ensure that the cleaning agents do not contain such chemicals. It can trigger an attack if these solutions contain such chemicals.

Lifting objects

One task commonly performed in any home cleaning procedure is to lift objects. If you are moving things around the house for decoration purposes or just temporarily shifting an object for cleaning, ensure that you carry the objects carefully.

Protective glasses

Sometimes, house cleaning can mean using harmful chemicals. If these get into the eyes, it can cause irritation and itching. Make sure you use protective eye gear to prevent this from happening.

Feather dusting

As a rule, feather-dusting techniques should be avoided at all costs. This can cause the dust to be airborne, which if inhaled, can cause allergies. Instead, you can use dusting with damp cloths. Instead of sweeping the floors, use a vacuum cleaner to prevent dust allergies.

Cuts and wounds

Make sure you do not push down too hard on trash. It could contain sharp objects, which could cause punctures in the hands. Ensure that you do not pick up glass pieces with bare hands. Instead, use a dustpan and broom to sweep the glass bits away from the floor.
