How to Keep Your Floors Clean and Shiny
Published on Thursday, 08 April 2010
The floor is usually one of the dirtiest parts of the house. This is quite expected since everyone steps on the floor day in and day out. Dust and dirt also end up on the floor eventually. That is why you should always take time to clean the floor. Cleaning various types of flooring requires a different method and cleaning product though. For example, if you have wooden floors you can use liquid wood floor cleaner with the use of dry wax applicator. Apply on the whole area and let the wood absorb the cleaner for a while. Wipe any excess cleaner and buff the whole area when the floor is dry. This would make your floor shinier afterwards. All-purpose cleaning solution would be appropriate for vinyl floors. However, like using any chemical solutions it should be tested on one spot first before you apply it to the whole floor area. Avoid using harsh abrasive cleaners so you will not scratch ceramic tiling. You should instead use a damp mop to apply the all purpose cleaner. Then to avoid streaks wipe it dry using a piece of soft cloth. On the other hand, if you have carpeted flooring you need to vacuum it regularly as often as you can. For deeper cleaning, steam carpet cleaning would be appropriate. This would not only get rid of dust but disinfect the carpet from any bacteria forming within.
