How To Get Rid Of Home Damaging Pests
Published on Wednesday, 25 November 2009

Pests not only damage the house but also pose threat to your health. If you find any sort of pests in your home, do not neglect and get rid of them as early as possible. Pests like cockroaches multiply rapidly and are hard to control. Here are some easy tips to get rid of common home damaging pests.

Rodents

Compared to other kinds of pests like cockroaches, ants and other bugs, elimination of rodents has to be given more importance. The bite of rodents is the cause of risky disease namely plague.  To eliminate rodents, you can either use rodent poison or traps. If you have pets like cats, it is advised to avoid the usage of rodent poison as the pets may eat poisoned dead rodents.
If you select traps, there are two types of traps. By using one type, we can catch rodents alive. These can be either single-catch trap or multi-catch trap, using the latter will trap multiple rodents at a time. However, when using this type of traps, be prepared where to leave them. Glue traps are another type of traps. Rodent's feet or skin sticks to the sheet that is heavily glued and they die of starvation.

Cockroaches

Crawling creatures that create havoc in kitchen and dining area are cockroaches. They rely on the food remains on kitchen platform and dining table and multiply at a faster pace. Most irritating factor is that they secrete a foul smelling liquid that imparts the smell even to food. One simple idea to get rid of cockroaches is by keeping kitchen cabinets and dining area clean and devoid of any food remains. Cockroaches will ultimately disappear due to lack of food. Most of them dispose waste in the sink or place the waste bin in the kitchen itself. Avoiding this practice and cultivating the habit of cleaning dishes immediately brings a great change. Other options to get rid of cockroaches are use of poisoned baits, boric acid sprays and insecticides.

Ants

Though harmless, no one would love to have irritating ant bites. Best solution to get rid of ants is sealing food in tight containers. The next step you have to do is use boric acid powder at the points where ants are gaining entry in to the house. If they have dwelled deep into your wooden furnishings, use fogging to get rid of them.
