How to Clean Microfiber Sofa
Published on Saturday, 25 July 2009

With rising busyness, people are finding ways to clean their microfiber sofas that would help them in reducing time while making the sofa very clean.   Here are a few ways you can adapt in cleaning your microfiber sofa and furniture:   * Steam cleaning the sofas is an excellent method. The new steam cleaners these days are very effective. They spray moisture over the fiber to which dust gets attached. It can then be vacuumed out with another vacuum cleaner. Or you can wipe it with the help of a damp cloth or a towel. The towel should be light in color or it may leave its stains. You can even air dry the sofa after steaming it. For this, direct the fan over it for some time. Once done you, should spray a good fabric protector over it.   * Sometimes people choose a microfiber for their sofa that is color fast. In this case, you can remove stains like that of food or tea with the help of hydrogen peroxide. The peroxide content in this solution just pulls away the stain with the help of oxygen. However, be careful not to use a highly concentrated solution of hydrogen peroxide. This may bleach your microfiber.   * Yet another effective way to clean the sofa is to use your standard brush that has soft bristles. The brush removes the dry and flaky stains easily. In case the stains are a little harder, you can spray a little bit of baking soda and then brush the concerned area till it is cleaned.   * Some people feel that the best way to clean the microfiber sofa is to simply use water and detergent solution and it will dry out like new.   * Remember that microfiber is polyester. So it can be cleaned by most of the things that clean polyester. You can use products that contain ammonia or alcohol. Vodka is one of the most effective agents. You can just rub some vodka and see the stain vanish.   * People who have pet cats often face the problem of cat peeing on the sofas. To clean that area, just use a blot. Flush the entire area with lots of water and blot it as much as possible. After that, you can use the cleaning solutions. Sometimes using products that contain enzymes is also helpful. The enzymes "eat" the stains and also keep it smell-free.   If none of the above tips work, you can use white vinegar.
