For many people who are moving, cleaning the place they are moving out of is probably one of the last things on their minds. This is normal though, as it is easy to get caught up in all the different tasks and moving related duties you need to do.
 
However, neglecting to clean up and fix your soon to be former apartment will result, at the very least, in the non-refunding of your initial deposit. In worse cases, you might even receive additional billing for repairs and other expenses incurred in getting the place back into the shape it was in when you first moved in.
 
When you first moved in, you should have taken pictures of the place - without your things in it yet - so you have a reference point to assess all the things that need to be cleaned and repaired. If not, then you have no choice but to undertake all the repairs.
 
You should work room by room and identify all the things that need to be fixed and cleaned and work at them one at a time. You can make a cleaning plan to help you better keep track of your progress and help you remember the problem areas that need to be taken care of.
