Getting Rid Of Stains From Your Carpet
Published on Wednesday, 18 November 2009

Good riddance! This is what we all say after divesting ourselves of carpet problems. Simple spots can become a headache if left untreated. Although it's a tad easy to select a product and employ a technique to clean our carpets at home, it's best to bring the matter to a professional who can manage our carpet problems more efficiently.   To initially remove the stain at home, one must educate himself of the types of stains and the first-steps needed to treat the problem.   Early Carpet Treatment   Early treatment of your carpets involves removing the debris or source of stain. Once done, you can proceed to other steps like shampooing, drying, and vacuuming the carpet. However, it's best advised that you call a cleaning company to handle the problem.   Stains That Can Infect Your Carpet   Here are some of the most common pollutants of your carpet:   * Water-Based Stains Examples of such stains are beverage or food spills, mud, dirt, and cosmetics. If you come across such problems, dampen a dye-free cloth and dab it from the outer-edge of the spot going inward. This prevents the spread of stain toward other areas of the carpet.   Use oxygen-formulated cleansers for interim cleaning. The latter destroys the bacteria that sit on your rug. Decide on time-saving supplies so you can readily use your carpets again.   * Gelatinous Messes Sticky messes from your carpets are removed by special spot cleansers. The latter works miraculously well with gum, tar and grease as well. Spray the solution over the infected area to moisten the stain. After which, use a damp cloth to agitate the soiled area; this will ensure total eradication of the viscous mess.   * Pet Accidents Pet accidents make serious messes. They can leave not only stain in your carpets but bacteria as well. Often times, you'd need heavy duty cleansers to efficiently remove pet urine. You may also have to ring the cleaning company for assistance on this matter.   * Unidentified Cause of Stain If the source of stain is unknown, it's best to leave it as is and ask help from the experts. Home owners can also clean, deodorise and protect the carpet before sending it to a cleaning company.
